Common Name : Mountain Ash
Latin Name : sorbus Description : The mountain ash is an ornamental tree known for its bright orange berries which can hang on into the winter. The "Fertile" mountain ash is a selection which grows in a neat, upright oval. To prevent sapsuckers from drilling holes in the bark, tie a metallic streamer or two on the branches. Mountain ash can be susceptible to fire blight at a young age. Also, they do not like wet ground in the Red River Valley. Once established, however, they are durable and will last up to thirty years. |
