Common Name : Spirea, Van Houtte (old fashioned bridalwreath)
Latin Name : Spiraea Description : The Van Houtte is a version of the old time bridalwreath spirea which has done well here for many decades. You can't beat its bloom in late spring. It grows to six or seven feet and should be allowed to fountain out naturally. Trimming into a round ball will ruin the shrub and remove next year's bloom. If the Van Houtte gets too large or too woody over the years, cut it back to about six inches to a foot tall--and let it grow back into a natural fountain shape. |
